4 Reasons to Give Your Children an Electric Toothbrush

You already know how important your child’s oral health is, so why are you still letting them brush with a manual toothbrush? While a manual can work fine, there’s no denying the benefits children take from an electric toothbrush.

Here are just four reasons to make the switch.

  1. Makes Things More Fun

Every parent knows how tough it can be to get children brushing their teeth properly every morning and evening, so anything to make things just that bit easier is going to be appreciated. Swapping out the old manual toothbrush for an electric toothbrush is a great idea. Kids tend to associate electric toothbrushes with growing up, and it’s simply more fun for them to use one instead of a boring old manual toothbrush.

  1. Easier to Brush

Younger children generally aren’t quite as dexterous as adults. As such, it can be tougher for them to move a manual toothbrush around every part of the mouth, which means some teeth will be missed. Teeth at the back are particularly hard to reach, so kids may give up on them or only give them a quick going over. An electric toothbrush is much easier to use – all kids need to do is hold it in place and slowly move it over their teeth.

  1. Prevents Overbrushing

Too many people think that brushing harder equals brushing better. It’s an easy mistake to make – after all, you’d think that rougher brushing would remove more plaque and bacteria. In reality, overbrushing simply leads to enamel loss, and children are particularly likely to brush too rigorously. Luckily enough, most electric toothbrushes are fitted with a pressure sensor that provides an alert when you’re pressing down too hard.

  1. Better Brushing

Finally, and most importantly, electric toothbrushes simply do a better job than manual toothbrushes. They’re able to move their bristles faster, and their circular shape fits around teeth without leaving any gaps. If you want your kids to avoid decay and infection, going electric is a good idea.
